Over the past week, some of our users have informed us that they have been denied access to the Windows XP registry.
You may need to reset the registry file and permissions if you encounter an “Access Denied” error while installing a running Windows XP service pack or update (for example, an error installing Service Pack 3. Access Denied).
Note. If you see an error. Service pack has some configuration errors. Access Denied before installing Windows XP Service Pack to check if the error is likely due to invalid registry permissions denied or DoRegistryUpdates failure.
Note. These access errors can also be caused by third-party applications, in particular anti-spyware antivirus applications.
