    Network Printer Support

Can I use qnap as a print server?

The print server function of the QNAP NAS provides advanced features such as Internet Printing Protocol (IPP), Zero Configuration via Bonjour, and Samba Printing Protocol to create a home and business environment. You can also occasionally check and manage the reputation of a print queue through our web interface.

But today, most computer printers have built-inThese network functions, and it is not always convenient to see the printer next to the NAS.

It should be nice to be able to set up Qnap as a new print server as easily as if you had a USB printer. worked as a standalone package, I guess if the right person sits down and comes up with a way to improve QPKG that includes rings, or maybe a “howto” on how to make it work, but there should be a simple blank way to print just in case something will go wrong.

But today, most printers have a built-in communication function, and it’s not always realistic to have a printer next to a NAS.

It would be nice to finally be able to easily set up qnap as a print server, just like having a fully USB printer. can be separatepackage, I guess if some good person will sit down and figure out how to build a QPKG with parameters, or maybe just a “howto” on how to make it work, but that would be an easy way to understand the print queue, if anything- it will go wrong.

We asked QNAP to fix this for the last 10. Often they don’t even acknowledge the request. In fact, I got so deep that I definitely emailed about it. I tried to convince her above. CUPS is installed on the NAS, but is obsolete, incomplete, and therefore does not support Samba, so you cannot create a $PRINT share to distribute printer drivers to Windows clients.

The so-called QNAP network printing support is a pathetic scam, although no one is exactly laughing at it. Keep walking. You are not listening.

but since most printers these days have built-in networking, placing the printer next to a real NAS isn’t always a good idea.

It would be nice to be able to set up a qnap as a print server as easily as if you had a USB driveinter. Might as a problem, I guess if our own real person sits down and finds available how to create a QPKG that contains options, or maybe just “howto” how it works, but it needs to be empty in a simple form to display the queue printing in case of problems.

Perhaps we should really hope/pray that someone manages to create a working QPKG that provides us with an important working printing solution.

How do I add a printer to my NAS?

Go to Windows and also open Synology Assistant.Click the “Printing Device” tab.Click Add.The wizard will find all printers connected to the Synology NAS on the local network.Select this printer brand and model to set up this particular software.

    Re: Support For Network Printers

I don’t understand this request. Decent Link printers can be used for advertising from any computer, printing from OS via AirPrint, printing from Android via Google Print, cloud printing from emaile-mails from attachments sent to it, printing from almost anywhere… What is the added value of putting the NAS on the data transfer path for printing and also adding infinite complexity?

  • Re: Support For Creating Network Printers

It’s easier to set up, I would say, set up the printer once, and then connect almost every client to it and set up all aspects, rather than setting up each client in advance.

I’ll be able to fix this by setting up a specific Windows or Linux server as my print server, but if or when I can use all of this in Qnap, I’ll have one less machine/serving vm.. . and since my qnap is always on, i can also print with vpn, which is my printer when i travel.

I think what I really want to achieve is a fully functional CUPS Internet computer with an interface for deleting print jobs.

Can we provide an OS X and Windows printing environment and additional configuration from a CUPS server without having to configure the client?

I can’t answer for the OS X part because I don’t have many Apple products other than cups. With correctly configured Samba it is possible, easier. Thanks to a great tutorial or a good GUI, not all settings can be configured to work with Windows printers, but some basic spot printing and printing setup is possible (which is probably enough for my wife to control the printer). and if you have a domain controller as qnap, you can also configure the model with policies when hosted on the network.
